My name is Benito Juarez. I am 28 years old. I have been a filmmaker for about 2 years. I have had a very minimum training course, including 1 Orientation class at the Kalamazoo Community Access Center and 1 Camera class that I tested out of. I have just jumped into this and am enjoying every minute of it. I love to make films and I learn something new with every film, whether it be a short or a feature film. I have made about 7 short films and 1 feature film. I have participated in 2 film festivals. My first film festival entry was "Blind Men Walking", a short film that my crew made for the Kalamazoo 24 Hour Film Festival last June. My second festival entry was "Shattered Dreams", a short film that my crew made for the Battle Creek 16 Hour Film Festival last July. I also re-cut "Shattered Dreams" for the 2008 Variety Show at Friendship Village on March 29th of this year as well. My first Feature Documentary Film was "A Trip Down Memory Lane", which was a film that I made last year for my Mother, Patricia Juarez, who died in 2006. I premiered this film at Friendship Village(Kalamazoo, MI) on June 21st, 2007, a year after her death. Nine days before I premiered that film, my Father died on June 12th, 2007. Currently, I am working on a Feature Documentary about his life and the connection that he had with my Mother and our family. It is tentatively titled "El Corazon de Mi Padre". I am still working on this film and there is no release date as of yet. I am also currently working on and re-cutting my short film "Shattered Dreams", and plan on sending it to some Short Film Festivals in the U.S.
